Profession: Pop Star
Biography: Emma Bunton is an English singer, songwriter, actress, and media personality, best known for her time with the popular girl group, the Spice Girls. With the group, Bunton became an international sensation in the 1990s, as well as later carving out a successful solo music career.
After her parents separated when she was 11, Bunton pursued her interests in performing arts. She attended St Theresa's Roman Catholic Primary School and then the Sylvia Young Theatre School. Her acting career featured appearances on British television shows such as EastEnders and The Bill.
Bunton's break into music came in 1994 when she joined the Spice Girls after responding to an advertisement in the trade publication The Stage. As the youngest member, she received the nickname "Baby Spice" and achieved massive success alongside Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Adams.
The group's debut single "Wannabe" (1996) topped charts worldwide, and they released three albums: Spice (1996), Spiceworld (1997), and Forever (2000). Post-Spice Girls, each member explored individual projects.
Launching her solo music career, Bunton's first album, A Girl Like Me (2001), featured the hit single "What Took You So Long?" reaching number one in the UK. Her follow-up album, Free Me (2004), was infused with a 1960s pop vibe.
After her third solo album, Life in Mono (2006), Bunton rejoined the Spice Girls for a reunion tour and a greatest hits album in 2007. In 2019, Bunton added to her solo discography with My Happy Place and once again participated in a Spice Girls reunion tour across the UK and Ireland.
Bunton expanded her presence on television with roles such as a recurring character in Absolutely Fabulous and competing in Strictly Come Dancing. She served as a judge on Dancing on Ice and Your Face Sounds Familiar, co-hosted the Heart Breakfast Show with Jamie Theakston, and later took the helm of her own Sunday evening show on Heart Radio.
