Biography: Jonathan Winters was an American comedian and artist, known for his classic comedy albums released with Verve Records. He received 11 Grammy nominations during his musical career, including eight for Best Comedy Album. Of these nominations Winters won the Grammy Award for Best Album for Children in 1975 and for Best Spoken Comedy Album in 1996.

Winters was also known for his various television roles, playing characters on The Steve Allen Show, Mork & Mindy, and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. For the latter he received a Golden Globe for Best Actor, Comedy or Musical.

For younger generations, Winters is likely best known as the voice of Grandpa Smurf in The Smurfs (2011) and The Smurfs 2 (2013). He was the original voice of Grandpa Smurf in The Smurfs (1986-1989).
